Greek goddess of the sea
Fly around the world with me
Paint your dress and drink to my fantasy
Atlantis never seemed as far
As never never land
Find Cinderella and tell me
If she lived happily ever after
Did Snow White want that kiss?
What if her dreams were all that she missed?
I want to grow up in Never Never Land
Never Never Land
I want to name my girl Tea Cup
I want to drink her up
Fall down the rabbit hole
Smiles, grins and chagrin
Atlantis never seemed as far
As Never Never Land
Take me to
Never Never Land
Bring me to
Never Never Land
Fly me to
Never Never Land

Short Story
He lay on his bed, the cigarette in his hand glowed the perfect cherry red. He exhaled and the smoke clouded in front of him. The familiar and oh-so-addictive scent only served to relax his body further.
To his left the blonde hair stirred. As she rolled over the sheets slipped and exposed her bare back. He smiled, he wouldn't tell her this yet, but he was starting to know what it'd be like to stay with her.
That was as far as it could go though, relationships were heartbreak when you could never stay together. He took another inhale of the wonderfully toxic tobacco that could never kill him.
The expanse of the bed stretched only a few inches beyond his feet. From there the ground took over, covered with a cheap carpet and underneath was even worse hardwood flooring. The room wasn't much, in fact it was only a foot bigger than the bed in all directions, but it was his. To the right was the closet, it stretched half the wall and only went about a foot back. Needless to say, you couldn't get off the bed on the right side as all of the clothes were invading quality room space. It didn't bother him. Messes never did.
Pressing the light out, he stood up and stretched. Breakfast wouldn't cook itself and she sure as hell wasn't going to cook it for him. The thought of someone else touching his food made him wince, the thought of it being his breakfast nearly made him gag. No, he had to do it himself.
Crossing the floor to the door in about three steps, he opened it and stared at the rest of the apartment. Technically, half of it was his, but his roommate was very, overwhelming, to say the least. Nothing in these rooms belonged to him and it was better that way.
The kitchen was miniscule. Actually, with a slight reflection, the only thing that was actually dynamic enough to take up a lot of space in his life was his ego. And he knew that had gotten him into enough trouble already. These thoughts were too much for the morning, let alone an empty stomach.
He opened the refrigerator door and smiled, this was the one place where he took up the most space. Nothing in the fridge did not belong to him. He had a roommate who only believed in lots of stuff and eating out. A glutton. He would deal with him later though, there was other work to be done.
Pulling out the eggs and cheese his stomach rumbled. He slammed down the food on the counter, frustration overpowering him. What was the point of being - “Chris?”
Damn. She woke up. “Yeah?”
A rustling from the bedroom, “Where’d you run off to?”
He sighed, “Kitchen. I got hungry.” Silence. “You want some food?” Why? He was off to such a good, rude start and then he couldn’t follow through. The door opened and he glanced up. She was wrapped in the sheets and her hair fell around her face like a halo. He’d been around enough halos though and it gave him back some nerve, “You’ll have to cook it yourself though.”
She laughed, “A gentleman. Fair enough, I’d just have to throw it all up if you cooked it anyways.”
Chris started, “What?”
“Someone else touching my food? I think not. I’ll make it myself, what are we having?” She walked over and looked into the fridge.
He thought quickly, “Actually, that’s all my roommates food, you’ll have to be okay with eggs and cheese.” He shoved his hand in the cheese to pick some up and put it in the scrambled egg yolk.
She looked at his hand pointedly and wrinkled her nose, “You’re certainly a charmer. I’m going to get dressed.”
He breathed a sigh of relief.

Crowd of Lovers
The faster you fall the more you try to hold on.
Let go of me, set me free.
Your pain doesn't mean half as much to be...
Among a crowd of lovers, amid a sea of storm.
Under faithful covers, advantage takes its form.
Hollywood painted a picture for me.
One to live in sweet and easy dreams.
Hollywood set the stage and reality began to fade.
Among a crowd of lovers, amid a sea of storm.
I've found that dreams aren't always sweet,
Dreams aren't always easy,
Sometimes reality hurts.
Among a crowd of lovers, amid a sea of storm.
Let go of me, set me free.
Your pain doesn't mean half as much to be...
Among a crowd of lovers, amid a sea of storm.
Under faithful covers, advantage takes its form.

Alice!
The world slips by on a golden thread,
And I’m hanging on by a chance,
Did I make it or am I in wonderland?
Alice, find me! Alice, save me!
The rabbit’s a twisted metaphor,
For how fast life hits the ground.
Living through the looking glass,
Or just living upside down?
Alice, find me! Alice, save me!
Pieces of the checker board are scattered,
The king takes off his crown.
Defeat comes quickly to those who plea.
Alice, find me! Alice, save me!
Alice, can you find me?
Alice, can you save me?
Bring me home to you.
And I’m hanging on by a chance,
Did I make it or am I in wonderland?
Alice, find me! Alice, save me!

South of a Dream.
The steam and rain blowing off of a heated car whips into the cold night,
Passes the girl flying her bike.
Soaked to the bone and as warm as a sunset,
Are you afraid of a ghost?
I've got you so close Winter winds can't intercede.
In a land a little south of a dream.
A sight of her has you consumed,
The smell of perfume brings a change in your emotion,
You look like you've sen a ghost.
The northeast breeze blows over lovers,
Fighting beneath apricot trees and tangled in bushes,
In a land a little south of a dream.
South of a dream you'll find your fears.
South of a dream I'll shed your tears.
South of a dream we'll be one.
Passes the girl flying her bike.
Soaked to the bone and as warm as a sunset,
Are you afraid of a ghost?
I've got you so close Winter winds can't intercede.
In a land a little south of a dream.
A sight of her has you consumed,

Sweetest Day, Hottest Night.
Enter a world of newfound glory,
Leave behind the made up story.
The apple’s all lit up,
The shadows mark the wall,
Catch me as I fall into...
The sweetest day, the hottest night.
Talk to me,
Tell me what to believe,
In the sweetest day, the hottest night...
I made it up to get with you,
I made it up to be with you.
Engrossed in truth, smeared with lies,
Monsters are my only alibis.
It’s the sweetest day, the hottest night.
Talk to me,
Tell me...should I believe?
Leave behind the made up story.
The apple’s all lit up,
The shadows mark the wall,
Catch me as I fall into...
The sweetest day, the hottest night.
Talk to me,
Tell me what to believe,
In the sweetest day, the hottest night...
I made it up to get with you,
I made it up to be with you.

New York, New York.
Times Square. The heart of NYC. Tourist Trap # 1. Whatever you call it, Times Square is a section of the city that sums up to lights, cameras and action. In the heart of NYC, there’s always something to do, something to see and somewhere to be. Great food, great shows, great big giant mix of people.
When you fly above New York at night, it’s like, well, a sea of stars. And to be IN the city at night, particularly Times Square, it’s as bright as the sun. There is so much light you could think it’s midday. Advertisement after advertisement flash by, you walk and see billboards as tall as trees, screens as big as a house. The length of them all would be miles worth. If you can't handle bright lights do not go the Land of Lit Pictures that is Times Square.
Photography. The Big Apple might as well be the home, the bread and butter and the gathering place of photographers. In one day I probably saw over two hundred cameras and I’m talking nice cameras. The competition is stiff and the level of originality has to be pushed every day. Shots are easy to duplicate, to be too similar to another. If you’re a photographer in New York you have to be unique and willing to fight for your place.
Own a car in NYC? For heaven’s sake, you’re wasting your time. The thing to do is the subway, walk, get a bike, etc. Remember what I said about the city summing up to action? This is it. People GO there, almost to the point of herds. If you had a birds eye view, you’d see movement.
For most people, this is too much. Too much commercialism, too many tourists, just too much. I’ve heard it’s the worst part of New York City. I’ve heard people say they hate it.
My question is, how can you hate it? How can you hate such an essential part of New York? So it’s not your favorite place (hello Greenwich Village!) but that doesn’t mean you have to hate it. Times Square is the heart of Broadway, it’s got food of every variety, music playing, people, people, people, lights, cameras and action!
Having just gone for the weekend, I can safely say, that I love ALL of NYC including, of course, Times Square.

LinkedIn, what's the deal?
LinkedIn. A business forum to exchange information, ideas and opportunities. It stands apart from Myspace and Facebook in that it is a professional landing page, a place kept separate from the colloquial atmosphere. However, how much space does this professional cover allow? Does it give people an excuse for a contact that might be even more personal and less legitimate than on a different site?
I recently joined LinkedIn and promptly left it alone for five months. See, I’m more of a Social Networker, my main profiles being Myspace and Facebook. LinkedIn just didn’t have much of a draw to me. I’m not a Sales Rep, why would I need to make more professional contacts?
However, working where I do (www.richter10point2.com), I realized at a point that it was silly for me to represent a Web PR firm where we work to expand the network of our clients and only have six connections myself! I decided to correct this and imported my boss’ connections to the computer, uploaded them and I was off.
The replies flooded in. In the first day I had around 500 e-mail notifications: the acceptances, responses to the message I had sent out and, interestingly enough, multiple compliments. As a woman I must confess, flattery is an amazing tool; however, this much? From this many people I don’t know? This was a little, well, weird.
From everything I’ve seen, Myspace and Facebook are rather blatant about any, ah, advances that someone might make to another. It goes something along the lines of, “daM gurl, u finE tlk 2 u soon!!” and you proceed to deny their friend request.
The replies I got on LinkedIn though were much more “subtleward.” (Subtly forward, innocent communication with an underlying hint of something more.)! Eg. “Thanks for the connect, you have a GREAT picture! I’m moving to Tampa soon, maybe we can meet up and discuss a future together!” I’m sorry? My future with an International Trade & Export Compliance Professional? If you’re interested in Richter, go for it, we have sales people who can help with anything you might have a question on. My profile specifically states that I am not a sales rep. The same day I got a phone call at my business saying that they saw my profile and he wanted me to know I could call him anytime. Oh yeah, he didn’t even say what he did.
The most startling message was in reply to my current experience post I have up stating I’m a poet. With a message saying that I “had gained a connection and a poem” for saying that, I didn’t think much of it. Until the next day I was e-mailed a poem written for me, from a connection on LinkedIn...who I’d never met. Sweet, but maybe a little too much.
However, these are a few select examples. I will confess that the majority of the messages I got (around 2,000) most simply said something along the lines of, “Thank you for reaching out and connecting, please let me know how I can assist you.” With the most welcoming stating something like, “I just wanted to acknowledge your e-mail and LinkedIn invite - Thank You!! I appreciate it. Let me know if I can be of any help! Take care and I truly do wish you the very best in everything you accomplish and do!!!”
I guess with my minimal experience on LinkedIn, I have a lot to learn. Maybe I shouldn’t be sitting here ripping on what I haven’t found out about yet. Whatever the case may be for these few examples I’ve found, LinkedIn has become an incredible asset to millions of people all over the world. Connecting business professionals of all kinds and advancing people and companies both.
I’m going to take LinkedIn from a fresh viewpoint right now. These few responses aren’t going to tarnish my look on something that has the potentiality to be very advantageous.

Magic?
These days, things seem to come so easily to people. You hear of bands making it big overnight, someone being picked out of thousands of applicants to enter in a reality TV show where they make a hundred thousand in an instant, actors and actresses who seemingly randomly get chosen and the next second they’re on every magazine in the store. Sound familiar?
There’s got to be a reason for this though, I mean, it’s not like there’s such a thing as magic...right?
Let’s take a look. We’ll take the first example of a band making it big. Usually, it’s referred to as a band being “discovered.” What does a band have to do in order to be “discovered” though? It’d make sense that they’d have to be playing a gig. Fair enough, but what are the chances of them playing one gig and getting found? Slim to none. So that band had to be playing a lot of shows, all over the place in order to be heard by just the right person.
Speaking as someone who has been helping promote a band for quite some time now, it is not like you can just go out and call up a music VIP to book shows. So finding venues gets factored in. Where in this new town do you go to play to the correct audience, get the most people, if you’re lucky get paid and play a set memorable enough that you’ll be invited back? To go through all of this you really have to love what you do, or love who you support. A lot.
Bands work. It’s a 24/7 job of staying in good communication with the other members, with people who will help support you and those who will hopefully become your next biggest fan. (Or your label!) The difference though, between going to your 9-5 day job that you possibly can’t stand and their 24/7 job is the passion that’s put into it. When you go to a concert and see the musician having so much fun, it’s because they are! They love their job: they love what they do so much that they’ll stick through anything to keep doing it.
When someone has that much passion, that much drive, you start to see how these things don’t fall into place as randomly as you thought. That person who was chosen out of thousands, well something was different about them. Whether it was the factor that they would add so much drama to the show or the producers saw the drive in them that we maybe can’t see until the final night of American Idol, when we have to decide who really deserves this more. That actor or actress that was chosen? My guess is that they had been going to auditions, auditions, auditions and worked themselves silly; their “big break” was earned.
So this is magic. These people have found what they love and put so much into it that they get the bonus of creating their whole life. It’s time we all added some magic, even if all you can do at this point is set up a corner in your basement, grab a paintbrush and start painting.
Paint a masterpiece.

Difference of Opinion.
Strip them vocals down, let me listen to you sing.
I'd love to let you love me but I won't buy a ring.
Enchant a forest so you can be a princess?
Give me a break we've had enough heroes.
In the land of the lost anything goes.
Feel the wind on your face, I'd show you how.
It was a dream overplayed and a nightmare now.
Leave me be, I've endured enough.
Your mind's a maze and mine's made up.
I'd love to let you love me but I won't buy a ring.
Enchant a forest so you can be a princess?
Give me a break we've had enough heroes.

Watch, Listen, Leave.
When the pain drags you under, do you swim to the top?
I've landed in a light wave and can't find a 'stop.'
WATCH.
Remote is out of batteries and I've found I don't care,
The more I fight, the more I see it's not fair.
LISTEN.
Scream to the sky and mark your independence,
Freedom comes to those who fight, fight to end this.
LEAVE.
I've felt the cold hands close around me,
Darkness swallows those who give up,
It's a tricky fight to breathe,
Falling,
Falling,
Falling,
I ran out of luck.
I've landed in a light wave and can't find a 'stop.'
WATCH.
Remote is out of batteries and I've found I don't care,
